Tail lift pallet delivery Birmingham and UK
Every Luton van has a tail-lift, so no forklift is needed on site. Pallets, crates and machinery to kerbside.
Tail lift pallet delivery from Birmingham to every UK postcode, with no forklift needed at either end. Every UK Pro Deliveries Luton van carries a tail-lift, so the driver lowers your pallet, crate or machine to the ground at kerbside, whether the delivery is a shop, a workshop, a building site, a school or a home. Collections from businesses without loading equipment work the same way.
Our biggest van, the extra long Luton, takes eight pallets or 1,500 kg on a 5 x 2.2 x 2.2 metre body and is still driven on a car licence. For ten pallets and above we book a lorry through our carriers network. Each job is dedicated, GPS tracked and signed off with a photo and a signed proof of delivery.
We transport:
- Single pallets and part loads up to a full van
- UK and Euro pallets, stacked or oversized
- Crated and skidded machinery
- Stillages, cages and racking
- Parts and components for manufacturers and automotive suppliers
- Boxed white goods and large appliances
- Flooring, tiles, bagged and palletised building materials
- Palletised print, packaging and trade stock
How our tail-lift pallets and machinery service works
Tell us how many pallets or pieces you have, the size of each and the total weight, and whether there is a forklift at collection or delivery. Enter the two postcodes on the price form and the price for each van size is shown at once. Add any site notes: height limits, narrow roads, PPE rules, booking times. If a single item is heavier than usual, say so and we confirm the right vehicle before dispatch.
The driver collects within 30 to 60 minutes on a same day job, or at the booked time on an advance booking. Where there is no forklift, the pallet is loaded with the tail-lift and a pallet truck, strapped and secured, and the van leaves straight away. Your load is the only one on board, so nothing is stacked on top of it and nothing is transferred at a depot. The vehicle is GPS tracked throughout.
At delivery the driver lowers the pallet to the ground at the vehicle and moves it to kerbside with the pallet truck. Moving goods further, inside a building or up steps, needs arranging in advance. The driver takes a photo of the goods and a signature, and the signed proof of delivery reaches you digitally the same day. The first 30 minutes of waiting at each end are free.
Get a price for tail-lift pallets and machinery
Tail lift pallet delivery is priced by road distance and by the van the pallets need, so the number of pallets and the total weight set the vehicle and the online price for vans is instant once you enter the postcodes. Out-of-hours collections, waiting time beyond the free period, hand-balling inside a building and extra drops are confirmed by the team before the van is dispatched.

Kerbside delivery explained
Kerbside means the goods are lowered to ground level at the vehicle and placed on a firm, level surface next to it. That is usually enough for a yard, a shop front, a loading area or a driveway. The driver uses a pallet truck to position the pallet, so a flat hard surface is needed: gravel, grass and steep slopes do not take a pallet truck.
If the goods need to go inside, up a step, into a lift or to a specific floor, tell us at booking. Some jobs can be done by the driver with hand-balling, charged by the hour, and others need a second person or a different vehicle. Deciding this before dispatch avoids a failed delivery and a return charge.
Machinery and heavy single items
A tail-lift has a safe working load, and a single machine or crate can exceed it even when the van's payload allows the weight. Tell us the weight, the footprint and whether the item is on a pallet, a skid or its own feet, and we match it to a vehicle whose tail-lift and body can take it, or book a lorry with a heavier lift through our carriers network.
Machinery is strapped and chocked for the journey and travels alone, so nothing is loaded against it. Where a machine must be rolled or jacked rather than lifted, we need to know before the driver arrives. For heavy items we recommend having a forklift available at one end, which usually widens the choice of vehicle and lowers the price.
Tail-lift pallets and machinery FAQ
Do I need a forklift at either end?
No. Every UPD Luton van has a tail-lift and the driver carries a pallet truck, so pallets and crates are lowered to the ground and moved to kerbside. A flat hard surface at each end is all that is needed.
How many pallets fit on a van?
One on a small van, two on a short wheelbase, three on a long wheelbase, six on a Luton and eight on the extra long Luton, which carries up to 1,500 kg. Ten pallets and above go on a lorry through our carriers network.
Will the driver take the pallet inside?
Delivery is to kerbside at the vehicle. Moving goods inside, up steps or to another floor can often be arranged in advance, charged as hand-balling by the hour, so tell us when you book.
Can you move machinery?
Yes, crated, skidded or palletised machinery is a large part of our work. Give us the weight and footprint so we can match it to a tail-lift's safe working load, or book a heavier lift through our carriers network.
Is my pallet co-loaded with other freight?
Never. The van carries your consignment only, so nothing is stacked on it and nothing is moved through a depot. It goes straight from your collection point to the delivery address.
What do you need from me to give a price?
The collection and delivery postcodes, the number of pallets or pieces, their size and total weight, and whether there is a forklift at either end. Enter the postcodes online and the van price is instant.
Why choose UPD for tail-lift pallets and machinery?
- Tail-lift on every Luton van. No forklift needed at either end. The driver lowers the load to the ground and moves it to kerbside.
- Up to eight pallets on a van. The extra long Luton carries eight pallets or 1,500 kg, so most part loads stay on our own fleet.
- Lorries when you need them. Ten pallets and above, or heavy single items, booked through our carriers network and managed by us.
- Never co-loaded. Your pallets travel alone. Nothing is stacked on them and nothing is handled through a depot.
- Collection in 30 to 60 minutes. From Smethwick, minutes from the M5 and M6, with the office open 24/7/365.
- Photo and signed POD. A photo of the pallet at the delivery point and a signed proof of delivery, sent the same day.
